Otorhinolaryngology
Outline
The Department of Otorhinolaryngology at 91猎奇 was established in January 1974, with Professor YAMASHITA Koichi serving as its first chair. Professor Yamashita was a pioneer of endoscopic sinus surgery in Japan and made significant contributions to the advancement of rhinology.
In April 1997, Professor TOMODA Koichi became the second chair and dedicated efforts to developing surgical instruments for endoscopic sinus surgery.
In May 2009, Professor MIWA Takaki assumed the role of the third chair and initiated a unique and innovative outpatient service for olfactory and gustatory disorders.
In March 2025, Professor SHIGA Hideaki was appointed as the fourth professor and chair. Building upon the foundation of previous olfactory research, he is committed to developing advanced medical care for olfactory disorders and aims to establish the department as a global leader in the field.
